Life's Algorithm - Episode 63

Did you know you are controlled by an algorithm? The choices you make, the things you think, and everything is run by one. Ok, I’ll be honest, I don’t have the scientific evidence to back all of that but I can tell you what part of your life is run by an algorithm. Your mindset. Yes, that’s right, your mindset. It affects every aspect of your life and it is controlled by an algorithm. Do you want to learn how you can hack it so you can live your life to the max? Then keep reading!

The Two Camps: There are many different mindsets one can have. For example one can have a negative mindset, a pessimistic one, an abundant mindset, and positive mindset, a “poor me” one, and the list goes on and on. I believe they fall into two different camps. A Positive Mindset and a Negative Mindset. Anything that improves your life, makes you happy, fills you with joy, and enhances your life in a positive way falls within the positive mindset. Everything that takes away from you happiness and joy, well that falls within the negative mindset camp.

The Two Oceans: I like to think about the camps as if they are two “oceans” that we are constantly surrounded by. One of them is the Ocean of Negativity and the other is the Ocean of Positivity. Which one we sail on is our choice. We pick which ocean to sail on based on our thoughts, actions, and beliefs. If we believe in good, look for the positives, help raise people up, and do good, then we are sailing on the ocean of positivity. If you do the opposite, well, then you get to sail the dark ocean of negativity. It’s all based on what you choose.

The Algorithm: Now let’s look at algorithms. When I hear of an algorithm I think of Social Media. Companies put algorithms in place to only show us certain things. Social media companies want us to have the best experience while using their platform so they show us things that we seem to like. They do this by using algorithms. They track what you like, spend time reading or watching, and what you avoid. By doing this they curate your feed so they are showing you more of what they believe you like.

Guess what. Life has a similar algorithm. The more time you spend on something, the more of it you get. For example, if you spend your time and energy around negative people and complain you will mostly see the bad things in the world. However if you spend your time and energy around people who are positive, lift you help, and find the good things in life, you will see more positives. This is Life’s algorithm. You get more of whatever you spend more time on.

Let me repeat that. You get more of whatever you spend more time and energy on. This is Life’s Algorithm.

The Hack: So if you are ready to sail on the ocean of positivity do yourself a favor and spend more time and energy on the positives! Write down your gratitudes, look for the positives, surround yourself with positive and supportive people, and do good in the world! Just like on social media, the changes don’t occur instantly. They take time. But the more time you focus on the positives the more you will see and experience.
